Poland's GDP Grew By 3.2% In The First Quarter Of 2025

The data was higher than predicted.

Poland's gross domestic product in the first quarter of 2025 increased by 3.2% year-on-year. This is evidenced by the data of the General Statistical Office (GUS).

Chief Economist of PKO Bank Polski Peter Bujak noted that the presented data were higher than predicted. According to the expert, this was due to good performance in the service sector.

"Obviously, the situation in the labor market is positive. Households are showing good sentiment, unemployment is not rising, incomes are still increasing at a very steady pace. Apparently, while merchandise sales did not look impressive, the service sector did better. This is perhaps the simplest explanation for the better-than-expected performance of our economy in the first quarter of this year," the expert said.

Data from the General Statistics Office also show that prices for goods and services in April rose by 4.3% year-on-year. Piotr Bujak estimated that inflation has thus decreased significantly. At the same time, he added that a further decline in inflation can be expected in the coming months.
