If the peace talks with Ukraine fail.
US President Donald Trump said he would move to sanctions against Russia if negotiations with Ukraine fail. In his opinion, the sanctions will be crushing for the Russian Federation.
This is reported by Fox News with reference to Trump's interview with journalist Bret Baier.
Commenting on Senator Lindsey Graham's bill on tough sanctions against Russia, Trump noted that he used this leverage against Venezuela and Iran.
"Frankly, I will do it (impose sanctions, - ed.) if we don't get an agreement," Trump said.
The US president added that he would see what happens at the talks in Turkey.
"This is Turkey's time, we're talking about Turkey, and we'll see what happens. It will be a crushing defeat for Russia because they are having a hard time in their economy right now, oil prices are low," the American leader said.
Trump also once again emphasized that only he personally can solve the conflict.
"There can't be a meeting without me, because as far as I'm concerned, the agreement will not go through without me. I have very good relations with Putin. I think we will reach an agreement," he noted.
