The rating of the pro-Russian prime minister's party is falling.
The combined rating of Slovakia's government parties would not allow them to form a coalition now.
This is according to the results of an Ipsos poll for Denník N, reports "European Truth".
The opposition Progressive Slovakia movement would have won the election if it had been held in mid-May with 21.9% of the vote. Prime Minister Robert Fitso's Smer party would have come second with 19.6 percent of the polled vote, while Respublika would have come third with support from 9.3 percent of respondents.
Support for the coalition party Golos fell below ten percent, and 8.4 percent of Slovaks would now vote for it, the lowest in history. "Golos" was formed in 2020 as a result of a split from Smer. In the 2023 election, it won almost 15 percent of the vote. Peter Pellegrini, who founded Golos, was elected president in 2024, and under the leadership of his successor, Interior Minister Matus Šutaj Eštok, the party's rating continues to fall.
The Slovak National Party, which is part of the coaltion, is now only 3% ready to vote.
That is, together the three government parties would not be able to form the majority needed to govern.
The Christian Democratic Movement (7.5%), the Slovak Movement (7.3%) and the Freedom and Solidarity Party (6.6%) will also enter parliament. The parties Alliance (4.8%) and Democrats (4.7%) will not make it into parliament.
The last parliamentary elections in Slovakia in 2023 were won by the Smer party with 22.94%, followed by the Progressive Slovakia party with 17.96%. Next came Golos (14.7%), the coalition of OLANO, KÚ and Za lidi (8.89%), KDH (6.82%), SaS (6.32%) and SNS (5.62%).
