Axios: Trump Will Consider U.S. Strikes On Iran's Nuclear Facilities

US President Donald Trump is considering US participation in Israel's military operation against Iran and strikes on the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities, Axios writes, citing three US officials.

American military forces could strike an underground uranium enrichment plant in Fordow. This plant is built near the city of Qom, about 160 kilometers from Tehran.

Before that, Trump declared "absolute" control over Iran's airspace, stressing that Iranian weapons are highly inferior to American ones, and demanded Iran's surrender.

Two days earlier, on June 15, Axios learned of Israel's request for the US to join strikes on Iran. At the time, Washington said it was not considering such a possibility. The portal's source stressed that the fastest way for Iran to achieve peace is to "give up its nuclear weapons program."
